In the forseeable future, a types of large, apparently unkillable spider-like monsters shows up and wipes out almost all of humanity. As the animals are blind, their ability to hear is so willing a shattering dish, the thump of boots, or any talk above a whisper could pull them. A number of humans endure, including a nameless few played out by Krasinski and Emily Blunt (who are committed in true to life). The match retreats to a farmhouse with the boy (Noah Jupe) and girl (Millicent Simmonds), so when they get pregnant another child, they get started making elaborate arrangements for the nigh-impossible job of raising the infant.
